40 ford brakes

I couldn't go another summer without a cruiser so I got the 40 on the road. This is a cool old car to drive, but quite a handful to stop. Anybody know where I could get a disc conversion for the old girl? I would like to keep the 5 on 5.5" bolt pattern so I was thinking on a ford truck rotor. Any help would be appreciated.

1980-1996 Ford F-150 and Bronco were 5 x 5.5 pattern. This may be a place to start. Heres a link ( Aim your cursor right HERE ) that sells kits but I dont know anything about your "40" so Im throwin knives in the dark... LOL

Hey T try Heidt's @ heidts.com or Magnum axle comp. @559-877-4630, or Jim Weimer Rod Garage @jimweimerrodgarage.com, or Fat Man Fab @ fatmanfab.com.
Any more hints ?..

Thanks guys, I found out I only had one wheel cylinder working, front passengers side. I guess this could be one of the reasons the old girl was hard to stop. I found a local place that had all I needed to rebuild the original brakes. This will be temporary until I convert it over to disc. Thanks again.

tbolt,
If you are going to keep the 40 suspension and not put on a front clip, I think Speedway has some Wilwood discs which are a match. You can find cheaper conversions, but not better. They are aluminum hubs and calipers (which are four piston), vented rotors, work well, and you shouldnt need a booster. Replace the MC with a 67-71 Mustang dual chamber MC.
I'm very happy with mine!
Mike
