Tire size for 2002 F-150

Does anyone have any idea what the biggest size tire I could fit under the 02 F-150 without a lift or changing rims? I have 16inch rims and my tires look like donuts. 235/70/16 came stock. It looks kinda silly with all that wheel well space between the tire and the fenders.

265/75R16 is the largest before rubbing. and it will fill up the wheel well!

It is a 4x4. With the wimpy 235 on, there is a ton of wheel well that needs to be filled!! I dont know a lot about tire sizes so if I was to try a 31-33 with 16 inch rims what would the measurment look like? What I have now is 235/70/16.

dude, I fit 265/75/16s under a 4x2 with no rubbing, you will be fine. mine came with the same stock tires as yours, i got 4.10 rear end and 265/75/16 tires and it is awesome. you wont have a problem.

Just talked to Ford. They said any time you beef up a tire size you will need to get your computer messed with. Bigger tires could cause probles if the computer is not worked on like 4x4, transmision, differential, and ABS problems. The guy at Firestone told me the same thing. The fuel mileage, speedometer, blah blah blah would be functioning correctly. However the Ford guy told me that there is no guarentee that even after they mess with the computer that there will not be a problem and could possibly start voiding out my warranty. He told me to try a 255 tire and hope it didnt mess anything up. I dont want a 255. I want atleast a 265 and preferably a 275 or 285. Does anyone know anyone that has had a problem by adding bigger tires to trucks?

correction 75 is the aspect ratio of the tread width. in other words 265 is your tread width. 75 is 75% of your treadwidth is the side wall of your tire and 16 is the size of your rim. so it is 31.8 inches tall.

So has anyone heard of bigger tires causing problems that could void my warranty? The guy at Ford said he can remember one 10 years ago where the ABS went out. Cost the guy 2500.00.

not me, the bigger the size the slower it stops though because you got more rotational weight to stop. 265/70/17 on my brothers truck and 265/75/16 stops find on my truck.
