tires and rims for rangeR?

anyone know what size tires and rims i could fit on a 1992 ranger? I will be slamming it on the frame soon enough so they will need to fit that. What do you guys think?

I would recommend 17's on low profile rubber. Anything up to 17x7's would look really nice. If you are slamming it, the 17's would be perfect. 18's are possible, but I'm not sure. Anything higher than that means cutting the wheel wells, which I a lot of minitruckers do, but I wouldn't.

splashin' with the cobras

A few years ago we were working on my cousins '95 Mustang. We took off his 17" chrome cobra R's and set them aside. His brother decided to try them on his '94 ranger splash ex-cab. It was black and looked real tight with the cobras on it. He went up town for a couple of hours and had no problems with rubbing. They were 245/45zr17 tires. I know this is a different body style than yours but maybe it'll help.

Yeah, I'd have to say the 17"s for sure again. I'm about to buy some myself, not sure the design yet, but not looking to spend more than 700 on the wheels. It should fill the wheel well nicely on my truck and make it look a LOT better than the 14" chrome 80 spokes i have right now. I've lost my interest in spokes!

personally the cobra "r" wheels are like butt holes everyone has them. every teenage punk in my area with a 2wd ranger has them on their trucks. it would be refreshing to see something like the 94- 95 "regular" cobra wheels (fat 5 spoke design) or 97-98 gt wheels
(the split 5 spoke design) just something other than the "r"s!or go original and use the new bullit mustangs 17" wheels!

There is nothing wrong with cobra rims on rangers, Shoot, they just look so good! I really don't see that many rangers with them today actually. Plus, most of thoes teenage punks only buy sattin finish and not chrome like me!!!!!!!

true but up here in the great northeast they are on every possible year ranger. i have seen them in satin and chrome... i am just personally tired of seeing them. i am not saying they dont look good either. its just a very repetitive look. i would just like to see something original and refreshing. someone else should set a new trend of wheels on rangers! but yet as i said before, they do look good... just overdone!

Guys, I'm about to sell my 14" chrome luxors 80 spokes. I'm going to buy some 17x8's on 45 or 50r rubbers.

What all do I need to check for? A friend of mine had mentioned checking for the offset even if the bolt pattern is the same because the spacing could be different and hit your brake rotors or drums.

If anyone knows or can provide some additional info, I'd appreciate it.
