Bad Goodyears...

Well Goodyear has agreed to give me a new tire!

When I was checking my oil last week I noticed one of my rear tires on the inner side wall had a bulge in it going all the way from the rim to the tread! It was about half an inch wide and three quarters of an inch out! The tires only have around 10000 miles on them and exactly 35 psi in them.

Goodyear inspected it, said it was a torn sidewall, was under warranty and ordered a new one. (closest one was in Seattle, won't be here for a good week) Until then I'm running on my spare, a Kirkland Signature brand tire! n: It's only redeeming quality is that it is the same size as the others.

Oh yeah, the tires are Goodyear Wrangler RT/S. The serviceman flat out said, "California pavement tire". They were Ford's choice for recalled Firestones.

So anyway, check your tires out!

i had RT/S tires on my first F-150. i didnt have any problems. then i got some firestone wilderness AT tires and they had much better traction but got recalled so I went back to RT/S for free.

im getting BFGs next i think. Goodyear wants like 700 a set for 32s. not worth it in my opinion.

as for being a pavement tire, the truck only got stuck once with them on.

I ran my Firestone Wilderness AT's all last winter and they did surprisingly well for not having studs. (I did slip around a couple times though) I do prefer them to the Goodyear RTS I got now.

I've gotten stuck and have slid around mud and grass more times with the RT/s than I can recall. (just about slid into a small canyon from off a four wheeler trail! My ranger was completley sideways in the trail cause the back slid and swung down. gotta get my scanner working!)

I should mention I only have 215/75r15 on my truck. I was eyeboling a new set of 31'' MTRs in their showroom today.

I'm extremely happy with my Goodyears...i matched them up against the BFG MTs and they cost me $5 more total per tire. The Goodyear MT/R is a much much better tire than the BFG, so I decided it was worth the $5. By the way, they are 315/75/r16s or approximately 35"s.
