What kind of shocks do you like?

I need some feedback on some good shocks for my Ranger. I've heard that Monroe makes some decent ones . How much should I expect to pay for shocks all around(4)? Any info. will be helpful in making my decision. Thanks for your time. Darby:wavey:

first off, what year is your truck. And i would recommend ranchos, bilstein, or hte monroes. However i have heard complaints about monroes as well. Either of these performance shocks will more than likely suit your needs.

For stock... I would go for the bilsteins. They are schweeet. For lifted trucks I am a big fan of the trailmaster SSV. They have prgessive valving and ride very very nice. They will rival the edelbrocks any day of the week for a lot less money.

You know most of the shocks are made by monroe though, right?

Yeah, I heard that those edelbrocks are prone to leaks. I would never buy them in the first place though due to the cost.

Rancho used to be made by Gabriel years ago, but now they are all pretty much built to spec by Mornoe.

Heco's have been around for a long long time. They market a pretty stout unit too... Kind of harsh riding but very tough. If I remember right they were the first company to offer extended shocks way back when.

I have Doetsch Tech shocks and I like them allot. Their prices seem to have come down too. I just saw an add in Summit ... $36.99 each. I paid more. It may be a different shock, though. The add I saw was for lowered trucks. I think it would be less (if there's a price difference at all) for a standard (ride height) shock.

The only shocks I don't like are air-shocks.

Text Blue I totally LOVE my Edlebrock IAS's! These are the only shocks that I will have on MY truck! I HIGHLY recommend them. I put about 2000 miles on them shortly after I put 'em on my truck. (drove from Rapid City, SD to Cape Cod, MA.) They are sweeeeeeeeeeeet.

for a stock ride height truck i would highly recomend the Rancho's...i have the RS 5000's on my truck and totally love them....they are kinda pricey but the improvement in ride quality i well worth it.

they are also really nice off-road. Not too stiff but deffinately not too soft. Probably the only aftermarket shocks i'll buy. Just watch out for the shock bushings being to small.
