just wanted t say hi and let you know that I have 1966 Galaxie 500 XL that I am rebuilding. If anyone has any helpful info it would be great to here from you:thumbsup:

Welcome Galaxie. Good luck with the project, and let's see some photos.

In 1964 a friend of mine bought a Galaxie 500 convertible. It had a 427 cu.in. engine with
tri-power and a 4 speed. I fell in love with the car and ran down to the dealer to get one.
They had a STARLINER in stock. It had a White roof with several chrome stars down the roof pillar.
The body was a color Ford called Honduras Maroon. A very dark brownish-red. It too had the 427,
tri-power and 4 speed. I haggled with the salesman for what seemed like hours. We finally came to
and agreement and I was ready to sign on the dotted line. Then the salesman did something
that really ticked me off. I don't recall what, but I stormed out of the dealership and went
down the street and bought an Alfa-Romeo instead. Drove back to the Ford dealership and asked
to talk to the manager. Pointed to the Alfa and told him it could/should have been the Starliner.
Then I left. I loved that Alfa, but I kicked myself every time I pulled next to a Chevy at a traffic light.
