How To Create A Thread/Topic

Terms To Know:

Forums/Sections: Contains the threads, to various topics. Usually threads in General Automotive Will have something to do with automotive related threads.

Thread/Topics: Makes up the forums, and contains posts. Usually a thread is the main topic of the following posts.

Posts/Replies: What makes up the threads. Posts inside threads should have something in regards to their thread title.

Search: One of the many functions of this board that make it great. The search is your friend, and you are the searches friend. Make peace with the search.

Posting is simple, so is replying, but i bet i get asked once a day, "I dont know how to create a post" So this quick tutorial is for you.

First you must search, to make sure that you arent going to be reposting something from a recent time frame, or the same joke over and over. This link will teach you the basic search functions. http://www.theautoforums.com/forums/...arch-1308.html

So you couldnt find what you wanted to post, and feel its going to be something new, or something worthwhile. You must find which forum location you want to post it in. Next to each forum is a general description which can be used to figure out which one you want.

After determining which section is a good place to call home for your post, you'll need to Create your new thread via the New Thread Button located at the top left corner, and one at the bottom left corner.

Attachment 629

You'll then be taken to the Data entry screen where you give your thread a meaningful title like - "99 dodge ram, transmission problems, no reverse?" You'll find that you'll get a better response, from more knowledgeable members the more on point with your title you are.

Then you enter some text describing your problem or whatever you are posting about. The more information here, the more help you'll continue to get. Saying "My transmissions doesnt have reverse" Isnt going to get you much, maybe a few "Oks" and "Good For yous".

Then hit Submit new Thread. BOOM You've got a new thread!
