Nice days, great driving!

It has turned nice around here. Often when I'm out in the vineyard, guys with muscle cars will slowly drive by out on the highway, stop, turn around, and try out their newly adjusted fuel mixture, or just check the current operation of their ride, doing burnouts going back down one of the few straight sections of local highway. Or I hear a good breathing well tuned V-8 and look up to see a rod moving quickly around the banked turn in the highway, and I smile, bend down and start pruning again.
Yesterday after looking after one roadster, I went up to where the wife was working. "Isnt there something you needed in town?" "Yes I need some flowers and bags of mulch".
Normally things like that would require a trip within the next week or so, but I said "well lets get cleaned up and take the old truck in". So we made a town run and picked up about 400 lbs of mulch and enough flowers to keep her busy for the next 4 or 5 days.
Damn the truck runs good. A few more glitches have been ironed out, but the new speedo and cable quit. Havent looked into the why of that yet. I was keeping a close eye on the vacuum gauge to maximize fuel mileage though. We're at 3.00 here per gallon.
The motor is idling better than ever at around 500 rpm with a nice lope from the cam. Found that the fast idle adjustment for the manual choke wasnt letting the motor drop below 650-700 after motor was warmed up and made a simple adjustment. Slightly decreased the shot from the accelerator pump for a small boost in mpg. In the next week or so I will have my wife tag along behind me in her Honda until I can burn up 2 gallons of gas, to get an mpg figure. I'm thinking it is something like 12 mpg. Need to get it up to at least 15.
Hope everyone else is having some good times. It sure sounds like SCrew is!

Fired up Ol'Blue last saturday and took her to cruize. Went home with a class winner trophy for it. Gotta make a few more b4 the big move. That is the one thing that I will miss the most when we get to Arkansas.

Colorado, congrats on the trophy! They have enthusiasts and clubs in Arkansas too, so you shouldnt be giving anything up there.
