5.0 Ranger

Me and my roommate were heading home when were driving around when we stopped at a light and a ranger pulled up next to us. the ranger looked bone stock with what looked like 14 inch rims. my roommate drives a 97 v6 mustang(he has exhaust and intake done so far) .... the ranger starts to rev at us and at first we think he is joking... he revs again so my roommate revs back, we look across the street and see some guy with a walker making his way across the street(seriously) so when the light turns the ranger smokes his tires and flys off the line.. we wait for the guy to get off the road then catch up... we have a go at it from about 30 and the ranger burns the stang by about 2-3 car lengths quick...when we pull up to the light the guy informs us that he has a 5.0 under the hood... the day gets stranger... they race to the next light with similar results except this time there happens to be a 99 cobra sitting there... the ranger calls him out and when the light changes the cobra burned him pretty bad.... very entertaining ride home though

Sweet, i hope to have one of those under my hood some day. Supercharged would be nice, however im not sure i could handle it. Well actually i could would just be one hell of a difference. 2.5L 4 banger --> 5.0 Supercharged V8. Shit!

twin turbo 5.4, or my twin turbo 6.8 v10, I like turbos, but I would love my 2.9 supercharged.

Ive seen some rangers with 2.3 turbo engines that haul major ass, with a little work those can make over 300 hp.... and that would be awesome cause the truck wouldnt be weighed down by the big block... i saw an article somewhere about a guy that has a pinto that runs high 10's with a 2.3 turboed pinto...

Hey guys and gals, I just stopped back (been busy for a gimp) and saw this thread. When I saw the part about the 2.3T making 300hp, I had to post this. It doesn't have a turbo, but it was a 2.3 (now stroked to 2.5). ... check out the 9 second Pinto.

Ya, the 2.3 is definately worth building and turbo charging... I'll post up some dyno sheets and some time slips as soon as i can...

How much HP does a 5.0 motor put down anyway?

Oh, for some reason I thought they had more power than that... Glad I went turbo instead of swapping out...

Well they're heavier too, so that's a factor... Of course any motor with work and/or forced induction has potential... except maybe kia motors... lol
