The Polaris Revolver

Polaris : Our Company : News : Press Releases : Polaris Revolver Concept

4-wheelers modified to be street legal (aka quadricycles) are getting pretty popular in Europe since fuel prices are so high. So now Polaris has made a concept quad that is built to be street legal. Word is that they are trying to make it legal in the U.S. Pretty cool idea. I would buy one over a motorcycle (if its priced along the same lines as a higher end sport bike) just to have something a little larger and different. Plus you can always do a little light off-roading with it. The iPod integration on the concept is pretty cool since it turns it into the instrument cluster.

Polaris Introduces Sport Quadricycle Concept

Many of the ATVs currently sold in Europe are homologated for on-road use as “quadricycles”. Virtually all of today’s rider active, street-legal, homologated quadricycles are off-road vehicles that have been adapted for on-road use. With the Revolver concept, Polaris proposes a new solution – A purpose built vehicle designed to deliver good off-road performance combined with a new level of on-road capability.

Revolver provides an awesome new experience with an uncommonly urban edge of sharp, aggressive attitude. A powerful 500cc liquid-cooled 4-valve engine stands at the ready, while a 5-speed transmission, disc brakes and massive, meaty tires see to it that the maximum amount of power goes where it should – both on and off-road.

Revolver doesn’t stop there. A super-duty suspension with a radically lowered and widened stance guarantees absolutely superior any-road cornering. Plus, its hydraulic steering dampener and long wheelbase add even more stability on all surfaces. In addition, Revolver is designed to allow a passenger to come along on the ride.

The design of the Polaris Revolver includes such appointments as supple Italian leather seating, low-profile “floating” fender designs, modular deep-dish alloy wheels and stunning “light ring” headlights. Every sculpted detail works in concert with one another to create a look and feel that reflects the unheard of experience and attitude this vehicle provides.

What’s more, state-of-the-art iPod® instrumentation and entertainment system will see to it that you and your passenger are always in tune with your ride.

The Revolver concept debuted at the Paris Motorcycle Show earlier this month. The Motorcycle Design Association nominated the Revolver as one of eight vehicles to be considered for their “Best of Show” award.

Revolver could be the quadricycle of the future…and the future might be a lot closer than you think.

It looks uncomfortable for any kind of long trip. Maybe a back rest on the seat or a not-so-crotch-rockety seat would be more appealing.

maybe, but if you really want that, im sure it could be made or bought aftermarket shortly after. However the way you sit is supposed to be like a sport bike. If you want comfort you can get a cruiser bike or one of those trike things, and thats not really want they are going for with it. It supposed to be sporty but a stripper.

To meet regulations here in Ohio, it would need fenders. Then it would look :gaysign:

I think that's a good idea, well here people will be pleased to have the right to go on the streets with a quad! and when you find your mud pit, let's go! I'd rather have that than a bike myself! Put some beefier tires and it's a all go!

they allready have street legal quads out here, i have riden one, and they are VERY unstable. i'd actually deem them dangerous to people with no high-speed quad experiance. they are also very tireing when it comes to corners as you need to lean off them inorder to stop from flipping. so all in all. Cool idea. but not practical at all.

hey, thats kind of wrong man. i know one of the dumb things people do is put big chrome wheels on regular quads, but this is a little different

well thats actually kind of why they created this. it was designed for being street legal and on road high speed perfromance. its not just a regular quad that was modded to be street legal. its got a lower, wider stance with a longer wheel base, bigger brakes, high performance tires, but most importantly is the steering system it uses. It actually dampens at high speed so it turns less and less when the bars are moved as speed increases.

sorry guess i should have mentioned that i love riding quads. i used to have a pretty nice warrior, but i had to sell it, school and money issues. now i really have no way to keep one here even if i could afford another one.

granted it takes a lot of skill to ride at high speed, but its doable. Im not saying you should ride this thing at 120 mph, but something built for this type of riding isn't really all that hard to create.

well i was doing.... roughly 110, going into a turn at speed, my ass was literally about 2-3 inches off the ground when i enterd the turn and the thing still went up on two wheels, not really a practical desigen, way way too many flaws.

well i still say that there is probably a big difference between one built for the purpose of being rode on the street and one moddified to ride on the street. however you can't expect it to ride just like a bike. the only way that would be possible is if the entire body, motor, seat, and upper part of the frame all leaned with the rider like on a bike and left all four wheels planted firmly.

Maybe where you're at, but where I'm from people drive ATVs, tractors, dirt bikes, and even riding mowers on the roads. My old man's buddy drives a 71 Monte that has the fenders cut out to fit his 33s.... And that's typical for the area.

read and the answers will be found. they did that on the concept so the screen could be used for the gauge cluster. its more of an attention getter than for function.
