Mark VII 1984 won't start

My son has a 84 Mark VII that won't start. I need some advice. This is what happened. While driving down a dirt road his friend thought he would be smart and tried to do a "wheely" with the car. He slammed on the brakes and at the same time pushed on the gas pedal. Needless to say all the car did was cut out. Now it just turns over as if it is not getting any fire to the sparkplugs or wherever.

My husband has been trying to get it to start again. He tested the plugs and they are getting the necessary fire, but did replace them because they were in bad shape anyway. To test it, he even put gas into the carburator and it still does not make a difference. Usually when you do this, it should at least start until the gas has evaporated or backfire or something, but nothing.

He tested to see if timing chain was broken by looking if the pistons were moving up and down and that is so. He then went and tested to see if the time had shifted and followed the instructions given by a mechanic and that does not seem to be the case. We have now replaced the TFI module? on the distributor which sometimes could case this, but it still will not start.

Any other ideas? We really need this vehicle and my husband is baffled by the fact that it seems to be getting fuel, there is fire by the sparkplugs and the timing chain seems to be fine. What are we missing. Please HELP

Check the inertial switch in the trunk. Also, the 84-85 Mark VII had CFI fuel injection, not a carb. Check the fuel pressure, too.

Congratulations.
It's a great car :)
My condolenses.
I've got Kids too :(

Our Mark VIIs need air, fuel, and fire to run. You've done all of the correct things so far. Before we go any further, have you:
reset the inertia switch
verified at least five gallons of gas in the tank
verified 35# of fuel pressure at the rail
replaced the ignition switch

Let us know when these things have been done.
