Wheels and road conditions - Ford Motor Forums

I Just moved to Ohio and the Mark VIII will be seeing it's first winter. I'm concerned about the Chrome Wheels and and the DOT's "road preparations", salt, cinders and the like. Should I get some sacrificial wheels? or should the factory wheels handle the corrosive environment?

I don't think the factory wheels are all that great. Many are starting to see the chrome peeling off of their wheels.

I think a set of steelies or cheapies would be your best bet. Keep the chromies for summer driving.

hit up the junk yard and get some Taurus rims some are not so bad looking

o ok. sorry dude. it's just that that's where i got my wheels for my old honda. they had alot of wheels, too many to choose from.:)

I understand, and don't take it too hard, there aren't that many Lincoln owners replacing thier Factory Wheels like the Honda Tuner Crowd. Lincolns are usually driven by Blue Haired old lady's and Old Guy's wearing a Hat. Not much of an aftermarket...

I will be selling my wheels and tires with less than 5000 miles on them in the next couple of weeks.

They are on the 98 at the top right.
