Got this a few weeks ago, I mentioned it another thread, but didn't want to be a highjacker...
COBB Access Port for the 2005 Subaru Legacy GT
NOTE: there are two types of maps for an ECU
1.
Realtime Maps. These basically load into your ECU without flashing the ECU (a Flash can void your warranty). they enable you to control your stock boost, A/F ratio.
2.
Base Map.. these completely change your ECU. they show up on all dealer tests and are semi permanent
It has the following maps loaded on to it from COBB
1.
Valet- will not allow RPM's to go over 3000 (good for letting a Friend or family member drive the car)
2.
Stg I 93 octane 215 WHP
3.
stg I 91 Octane
4.
stg I Protune map 237 WHP (this is what I use)
5.
Stg II 300WHP (catted DP required)
6.
stg II 91 octane (for California users)
7.
anti theft mode (car cannot be started or hot wired) good for long trips away...
8.
Stock mode
9.
Data logging function, I plug it in and it records my A/F ratio and spool time, I in turn send those to my tuner and he sends me a custom map. (for free)
10.
Diagnostic mode. Allows you to pull CEL (check engine light)codes and then tells you what they are!
plus you can connect it to your computer for easy download of various maps.
the actual AP itself costs $645, I purchased it from a tuner who loaded his Protune map into it. For the extra $45 I get unlimited free maps for the entire time I own the AP.
as you know, when you make a MOD to your car you have change your maps.
I get them all for free, all I have to do is email my mod list and I get a map emailed back to me, which i download, then load in my car.
So basically for $700 I saved my self hours of dyno time and $$$$$ in new maps.
the downside...
1. it voids your Warranty if the dealer can prove it caused the malfunction/breakage
2. It "marrys itself to the car, so basically you cant use it on 2 different cars without unmarrying it from the first.
