Re: question We need more info Birdman. Is the tank full or is he just putting in $5-10 worth of gas. How far "down the street" is he driving before he parks? How long is the car sitting before he comes back and starts it up? Is there a wet spot on the ground behind or under the car when he gets back? The problem could be anything from a bad gauge to a pin hole in the gas tank or fuel line.

Re: question ok well he is puting 10 bucks in but he can drive all day on 10 bucks as far as distance, three to four miles min - 12-14 miles max. he filles up i nthe morning usually before work so it sits for about 5-6 hours and there is no out side leak no moisture coming from the hoses or anything on the ground. nothin! the car has just had be serviced three months ago and everything is new in the engine bay except for the block.

Re: question Well let's see. If you're only putting in $10 worth at a time, you're only talking about 3-4 gals each time. If most or all of your trips are under 10 miles, the engine is NEVER getting hot. So you're running with the choke on all the time and mileage is going to suffer. I'm not that familiar with that year Volvo, but if it's not a bad gauge and there are no visible leaks, and the gauge reds let's say 1/2 tank when he gets to work and it's down to let's say 1/4 when he goes home, then the only other thing I can think of is does your roommate have a locking door over his gas cap? One that he has to pull a lever inside the car to open? if not I'd suggest your roommate buy a LOCKING gas cap. Someone might be siphoning some gas while he's at work. ![]()
