Ideas and any suggestions?

My fiero is gonna have a LOT done to it. I probably will never get rid of it. Right now heres whats in the plan, if I ever see enough money:

I hear theres a swap that works really well, the Cobalt SS engine with a stage 2 kit that comes with a manual 6speed, claims around 300hp and torque, just about right for me, so add this to the list. I don;t much want to go with a V8 or really high hp/torque engine because I've heard you can't use the power anyway, the tranny you have to pair it with wont handle it. All show (or sound) and no go.

New springs and shocks, current ones are alright but are deteriorating, I'll probably put new control arms and bushings and such on too due to rust, and I'd like a slightly stiffer experience. Its already pretty low but theres just too much gap in the wheels, so I might go for around a 1" drop all around.

Removing weight: well, as far as I can see, there are a TON of things that could be easily removed including basically the entire trunk and a lot in the front as well. I believe that after some serious removal of stuff that you wouldnt even notice by looking at it, I could get it down to 2200-ish lbs. That much weight with the 300hp cobalt engine would be pretty mean.

Tires and rims: like I said theres a lot of empty space in the wheel arches, I'm thinking of upping the rim size and tires. Right now its got the fiero GT rims which are 50R15s, I'm thinking something like 35 or 40 R 17s, nothing much bigger, and around 225wide fronts and 235 or 245 wide rears. I have an area shop which i can get some fenders that look pretty stock but stick out a bit more to accommodate it.

The spoiler. OK I know this isnt really an upgrade, it isnt meant to be, but the stock spoiler is really fugly and dated with the metal lines up the trunk lid. I'm thinking of taking that off and putting a different one on, larger than the one it has now but a bit smaller than the Fiero GT stock spoiler. Just because the rear needs an accent of some sort, the blank notchback looks really crappy to me.

Any opinions on all of this? Anyone know a good route to take or how much an engine swap normally costs? I dont have much experience with it.

I like your idea for the Cobalt engine.

Add a rear LSD or locking and you'll be cooking with gas.

I would like to see what one looks like without a spoiler. Sometimes a vehicle looks best without one and other times it looks stupid. ie: 99-04 mustangs can look great without spoilers, 00-04 celicas can look great without them. The key is for them to have a dark color (yours is black so yay there) and nice wheels tires, in the case of the mustang wide rear tires too.
