time for a new front bumper sheet i think

well i got the spirit inspected yesterday. the old sticker said 88,004 and the new sticker says 106,453. it has been a busy car lol.

this is what commuting has done to the front! BUT a lot has to do with the fact that i've repainted the front about a million times trying to get the right design. there are many many layers of paint on there, and they are just chipping off.

my high quality A Piece of Crap fog lights quit working so i happily threw them out. i am getting a new front bumper piece as soon as the semester is over (i only have 4 more trips out to college to make). i am not getting any new lights.

as of midnight tonight, the valiant has insurance on it again :)

i am going to get the new bumper piece, put one quality coat of paint on it (after sanding and primering and all that) and chad is going to clear it for me. it should do a lot better like that. the paint everywhere else on the car looks just fine thankfully.

here's what it looks like now! :runaway: is that some teal that i see there???

before i do the front, i decided to work on my valve cover and gasket. for the past two days i have been working on cleaning, sanding, and painting. i also replaced most of the rubber hoses/tubes under the air cleaner assembly because mine were all cracked and falling apart. here are some pictures.
this is right after i took the valve cover off.

here you can see the rubber hoses that i replaced.

the new gasket.

the sanded valve cover.

when i painted it.

the other cover, cleaned and with new rubber spacers on the top.

some of the parts i had to order from wagner dodge dealer.

sanded and painted air cleaner cover.

and here it is done. i still have to get up to the car wash and do the rest with the powerwasher. i just got done with commuting for the semester on tuesday and i am just beginning to clean up the spirit.

the next thing on the list is an in dash dvd player. i'm going to buy it tomorrow and have my friend up at ccity put it in for me sometime in the next few days. the cd player out of the spirit is going into the valiant. after that, i am going to begin fixing the front and saving up for summer tires.

i got a new water pump and timing belt last summer. on this car, i don't think the belt powers the pump. you have to take off the timing belt in order to change the water pump, so i guess it is good to change them both at the same time.

ahh, got ya. oddly enough. the one on my car is powerd by the timeing belt, so when the pump gets a fault you need a new timeing belt and tensioner. which is a bit of a pain.

Wow that looks great, nice job on the valve cover! I noticed you have the aluminum valve cover, those way better than the stamped steel covers which like to warp and not form a good seal.

Same thing with my Spirit's V6. The water pump is driven off the timing belt and it's not easy to get to. But on the 4 cylinders it's much easier since it is driven by a seperate serp. belt, and it bolts right to the engine so you don't have to remove stuff to get to it.
