back bumper finally on the spirit

I finally took the advice that some of you gave me, which was to make the bottom edge of my spirit even. I still have to get skirts of some kind, but at least now the back bumper is even with the front. I like it a lot, and I think it came out pretty good.

From some angles, the back looks huge but from others, it looks a lot better than the stock bumper. I like it a lot anyway.

Anyone have any suggestions for skirts? Your input would be appreciated!

that must be why you haven't been on here much lately. Its nice, but kind of weird in a way because it sticks off the back of the trunk lid area so far. But once you get used to it, it looks good. Good job picking out a tip for the exhaust. I still say you need the side skirts now though.

Holy fucking fuck that rear bumper sticks out so far!!!!

You need to put another exhaust tip on the other side now too, it looks kickass!

And as for the sideskirts, why don't you just do sheetmetal like the bumpers?

No offence, but yeah. It looks weird. It's too big. Just my opinion.

no offense taken, i asked for your input, and you provided it :) if you weren't honest, THEN i'd take offense. i dont like liars :noplease:

yes, it does take some getting used to. and as i said in my first post, it does look big from some angles. but that is how it had to be to make it level with the front.

no i will not put dual exhaust (or fake dual exhaust) on my 4 banger. that was already called stupid on this site, and i remember when it was said.

i agree with ucimaplaya2 about the skirts as i said in the first post, but i need suggestions! i was thinking about making my own, like the bumpers, but i'm not sure how i could do it well enough. :dunno:

I kinda like it, cause think about it. Instead of sittin your beer on the trunk of the car, you can put it on the bumper

Very strange what certain angles can do. It doesn't look so big in your second set of pics. It actually flows quite well. Well done.

i'm so glad it looks better now, i agree, i should have done this a long time ago (like right after the front lol)

yea, ive been told by people who have just seen pics and then got to see it in person, that it looks better up close. it is a sight to see apparently

...mostly people from cardomain and allpar that saw my car at the chrysler show (it took third place in its class, see the plaque i got in my sig? woot!)

i was also told, that supposedly i could pick any skirt style made for an 00+ celica and they would work on my spirit... i don't know anything about these kinds of things, is this true?

i was hoping to find actual skirts instead of making them myself, but they have to be VERY plain to go with the bumpers i've already designed and made... can you guys help me out?

I don't know, but i will measure my gfs celica and take pictures of it for you. She doesn't have a set of aftermarket skirts or even the factory trd things, but she does have the simple little plastic part that runs along the door anyway, so I can measure that. The only thing is that if you try to get one for a celica, most of them raise up in the back of the skirt, and try to follow the line of the door. On a two door car, that works, but on your car the skirt would block the rear doors from opening because it comes up so much higher. You would look like that one car that was posted on FR that had the same problem.

hey man thank you for that. the measure on the spirit is 74" (or really close).

the pics i attached are of this kid that told me about the celica skirts. he never came out and said it, but i think he blocked his back doors. i remember when he showed me those pics, i wondered if he could still open his doors (i really don't think he could.)

those skirts that he has, i don't think they would look right on mine with the bumpers. i think i need something more simple than that. :dunno:

...he eventually gave up on his spirit project and moved on to other cars. these pics are about all the farther he got. (thank goodness IMO)

1) You can't open the rear doors.... That = :ghey:
2) They look like ass, don't do it.

I still say go for the sheetmetal becuase it'll be the simple look that your looking for like the front/rear bumpercovers

i agree, i certainly wouldn't go with those style celica skirts, there are so many styles out there to pick from. ill have to see what is out there once ucima gets back to me with his measurements.

yea, i gotta be able to open all the doors, remember, i heart functionality

im going to try some sheetmetal this week if i can.
