Here is a question that I am asking without doing much research, but I found these forums and figured it would be a good place to ask.....
I own an 89 Mustang GT convertible that has sat in my backyard/driveway/garage for the last 5-6 years. I have recently got a renewed interest in restoring it and would like to bring it back to its glory days when I purchased it in 92. Getting a new paint job and interior is something I know I will probably have to pay for.

The convertible top needs to be replaced also, and I believe this is something I could do myself? Can anyone direct me where to find a replacement top and the steps needed to Do it yourself. I consider myself pretty handy, so if somone could provide some detailed instructions or where to find them I would like to attempt to change it myself.

This sounds like an awesome project cause the car has got some history to it in your family. I just read about someone selling mustang parts on here so you are in the right place. How is the condition of the car otherwise. Got any pics. I will let more qualified people answer the question on the top.

We to have a convertible. While researching for parts, 5.0 Resto seems to have the best deals on replacement tops. I've heard you can replace them yourself, but I've heard it's a major ordeal.

I will try to find some pictures of the car. It has probably been 7-8 years since I have taken a picture of the thing, and that was well before my digital camera! I will take a picture of it in its current state, and provide updated pictures as my project progresses.
