Painting my dash

I am wanting to paint some pieces on my dash (pass. air bag door, trim around my radio, trim around my insturment panel) and I was curious if there is anything I need to do as far as prepping. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I painted the whole interior of my truck, and while I didnt use any primer, I did sand all vinal with 400 grit wet sand paper, used a good degreaser and then lots of water to rinse, just let everything dry completely.

I think one of the main reasons you would use primer on the interior of a truck is because of the glossy surface that you are painting over.

When painting over glossy surfaces it is always recommended that you sand the gloss off of the surface or prime. Either or, I would do both just to be safe. After you sand I would wipe TSP (trisodium phosphate) over it or a mild laundry detergent to help clean up the sanding residue and to get any grease deposits from stuff such as armoral and what not. Then lots of water like Alaska said.

Then follow bombers instructions and prime, the paint will stick better.

When painting preperation is everything. DO NOT do this as a rainy day activity. The paint may take days to dry under humid conditions.

well now im looking to do a few pieces on my dash to match the rest of it. Looking at painting the four vents on the sides, repainting the door handles and going over the center radio cover. My question is... how apt am im to ruining this. Cause if i do mess up.. i cant go back because i would have sanded this shit down. Speaking of that, how do i do the vents??? Its gonna be hard as hell to sand it, not to mention going over it lightly with the paint, and trying to resand it with the 2000 grit wet sand paper. What do you guys think?
