tonneau suggestions

Ive been looking for a tonneau (sp?) I don't know much about them, but I do know that I want it to be secure (lockable) and most of all easily removable like to put the dirt bike, that I want to get, in the bed. any suggestions on where to look or what to get would be greatly appreciated.

Seth

easily removeable and lockable? a hard one might be kinda tough to remove by yourself, even on a ranger, i dont know.

i got 3 extang soft covers in the family and we love em. nobody ever tries to peek in either.

i believe i got it from stylin concepts, not sure.

There are companies that make power retractable tonneau covers. Kind of like the old roll top desks only laying flat. They put a roller up against the bed by the cab and there are tracks that are mounted on the bed rails. With a flip of the switch the cover unrolls to the closed position or rolls up to the full open position or stops any place inbetween. I believe it has an optional lock also.

I got lucky and found a leer tonno used for $260. look for covers that have a piano type hinge at the front, most locks are the same but the difference is in the handle. the new leer tonnos have a button that you push to open it, mine has a T-handle and I have also seen door handle style latches for tonnos, they all lock but take a look at styles to find what you want. Most are water proof(dont leak while driving in rain) and if it is new you can bet money you wont have a problem, if you are taking a hose and spraying full pressure on the seal it will probably leak, I will be playing with mine once i pay it off.
I would check your local yellow pages under conpies or toppers and look for an A.R.E. Leer or snugtop dealer, they can give you all kinds of info.

Since you are wanting something that is easily removed I would have to agree with Waldo an extang cover will do you good there strong and pretty good at keeping water out of the bed yet can be removed easy by one person.
