Engine locked on a 98 F250 5.4

Got a motor lockup up on a 98 Ford F250 with the 5.4L. I have heard that it is better to replace the motor than to rebuild. Is that true or someone trying to make a buck.

i got a 5.4 out of a 2001 superduty with trany and transfer case if your interested
