95 F-150 Rear End Identification ?

Ok i have a 95 F-150 4x4 5.0 OHV!

The Axel Code in the door is 17 and the number on the tag on the rear end is as follows

31 88 5G13

Im thinking it's a 3.31 8.8 rear end am i right ?

Also it is drum brakes how hard would it be to go from drum to disc on the back would u just use the same lines when you put the new rear end in.

Here's the problem i went for about a about 100 mile rnd trip drive. On the way back i had a roar so i climbed under it and had a leak so i jacked it up and run it with the wheels in the air let off the gas and the rear end was roaring and clunking so i had to drive it back to the house and on the way back it started clunking really bad and grinding i took it slow but im sure the rear end is no good now. I want to just swap out the whole axel i can get any axel for any truck for $70 bucks at this junk yard you just have to take em off. So as long as i was swaping i was wondering if i could swap up to disc brakes with out having to do anything but hook the lines up.

Thanks

Jeremy
