2008/2009 Lightning?

Anyone know when the next Lightnings are to be announced?

I was in Detroit for a few months last year, and got to speak with several persons in the industry.

The 'rumor' was the Lightning will be announced in 2008/2009, and it may have the V10 in it!

I am hoping someone here can confirm as I want one of those bad boys.

Smirkley this is all I could find

There are many rumors about the next generation Lightning. A concept vehicle was released on the new 2004 F-150 platform, with a supercharged 500 Horsepower, 500 ft·lbf 5.4 L V8 engine and independent rear suspension from the recently-released Ford Expedition/Lincoln Navigator. However, all plans for a Lightning on the 2005-present F-150 platform have been dismissed. There is speculation this is because the weight of the platform would hinder a performance vehicle. The next Lightning is rumored to be released during the 2009 Model Year.

Re: 2008/2009 Lightning?

I remember the leap in performance when they packed that Jaguar supercharger ontop of the motor. Man that would takeoff when you hit boost.

I used to ... umm... ''test drive'' them all the way back to when they used the 351 with the hyperuectic pistons and gt40 heads.

That is till I got banned from all the dealerships :wavey:

Now they want a deposit lmao.

At least I can say half the ones in the triad were first driven by me.

**sigh**, those were the days.

Re: 2008/2009 Lightning?

Well kinda yes, and kinda no,..

Basically the last three times I went to test drive a lightning, three different dealerships, they told me I had to buy it first.

I asked why would they make me buy it before I 'test drove' it, and he looked at me and smiled,..'new policy'

We had 3 different SVT dealers in the area, and they got to know me too well lol.

I suppose if I wanted to test drive an Escort it woulda been no big deal, but who would?

I've never tried to test drive a sweet car. I'm a younger guy so I doubt anyone would buy it.
