I need help with my 97 ranger..

I have a 1997 ranger and i wanna build up the 2.3, put in a 4.0, or put in a V8 but i don't know what would be the best. I would like to beef up to 2.3 but i don't know what i should do to it. Any advice?

what are you planning to do to the 2.3?? The 4.0 is a much more powerful engine but also uses more gas. $ cylinders can probably take more of a beating with cheaper repairs...the choice is yours

I have a 1995 ford explorer 4-door with a 4.0 and that suv moves! In combination with a K&N air filter it should be nice. Is your truck's frame, body modified at all?

No my truck is not modified at all. This summer i plan on painting my truck blue and adding some silver racing strips down the middle. Then i would like to paint my dash a compination of black and silver and then add bucket seats, new carpet, tint the windows, and then finish the inside by painting the trim panels the same silver as the dash. As for the rest of the rest of the outside i will make my own roll pan, add the flowmaster exhaust, and then bolt on the 15X8 eagles.

As for rebuilding the 2.3, i was just going to buy a rebuild kit for it. I really don't know what i could do to add more power. I thought about adding a cool air intake with a K&N, put a bigger throutle body on it, quad spark plugs, and adding a computer chip but i think it might be a waste of money. What do you all think?

I would say go with the 302 or 351. Just curious, I know California you have to be careful with emmissions and they have laws about swapping motors with certain years, is that in other states as well?
