Im thinkin about swappin the seats, motor, tranny, and rear end out of a 5.0 mustang into my 90 ranger. does it really matter what year i need to swap with? what type of difficulties have people ran into in doing this? any help is greatly appreciated:werd:

its costly.if you have the complete stang its still about another $2000 in parts. it requirs alot of attention. and the motor should be the same year as your truck or newer.(in pa at least)

Seats, Motor, and Tranny

can be done with minor modifications but the Mustang rear would be quite difficult because both axles are the same length.

If you look at your Ranger rear, you'll see that the pumpkin is offset a little to accomodate the driveshaft, fuel tank, and exhaust pipes. The Mustang pumking is dead-center, you have to cut an axle tube, reweld it, then put your shorter Ranger axle in.

You'd also mess up your driveline with the Mustang rear if you didn't rework the axles.

Others may have swapped Mustang rears, but it would be so much easier to unbolt an 8.8 axle out of a so-equipped 4.0L Ranger/Explorer and bolt it right back in.
