I have a 4.0l in my 92. Its a quick engine, but I want to do some mods other than the obvious (exhaust, k&n, and sensors). Does anyone know of cams and headers available? What brand, type should I use. And do they work good? Is it worth the $$$$$$$?

the 4.0 is good, but sadly you can make the 2.9 quicker, the 4.0 has better low end torque...but thats about it. you can get head gaskets that dont transfer heat. so that your air is still cool and dense....theres more but I cant think of any off the top of my head.

I really wanna stick with my 4.0. I know if I do internal mods I can smoke the 2.9. Thats what I have in my 86 STX....Its a tough motor with minor mods, but I dont think it could touch a 4.0 spiced up from the inside out.

dont forget new gearing, I was reading that to make the internal mods on the 4.0 and 2.9 is nearly futile, might as well just regear your tranny and diffs to make what you have better. to me thats dog doo, I know this wont help to much, but someone makes a spacer to put inbetween the block and intake manifold, which keeps the air cooler and more dense, than you can get the electric Radiator fans, oil cooler, bore your engine out to a 4.4, get new camshaft. come on up to alaska when your done and we will race...
