manual lock hubs

We got some snow up here and i got to test out the 4x4. having 4 wheel drive is nice :) i was just curious weather or not it is ok to drive with the hubs locked in but having the transfer case in 2 hi. this way i could just put it in 4 hi when i needed it. i have heard that it is ok and that it is not so i figured you guys would probably know. get to really test here out when we move cows hehe it will either be snowy or muddy most likely snow

yes it is ok to do it,you will jusy lose fuel millage,like we need any help on that, it is actually a good thing to do it occasionlly to lube the locking part of the hubs,(the lock outs)you can shift in and out of wheel then any time you want. just try not to turn too much since it binds everything up in the front end.

well it is good to know that because i usually just need it when i have to stop on ice and what not. plus when i come off my gravel road i have to go up a very steep hill without any run what so ever. a 4x4 ford is a lot nicer than a 2x4 chevy. :) went right up the hill this morning with no problem compared to 10 mph in my old chevy hehe
