reset the ecu??

how do you reset the ecu on a 4.0 2002 ranger? i have heard jus disconnect the battery for 5 or 10 minutes then i have read that you have to warm up the truck for 5 min, then kill it,disconnect the batery, then reconnect the battery, then start it for another 5 min , then killl it, then start it again!..also heard something about a idle sylanoid and doing something with that.....to reset the ecu?

umm just unplug the battery for about 30 minutes... the best bet is to disconnect before bed... and then reconnect in the morning... that way your sure that its been reset

after you disconnect the battery, there is no power left in the cables, its not like a water hose. if there is no source (battery) there is no juice in the system
