Question Exhaust question

I got a Raptor exhaust put on last year with a 2.5" chrome tip on it. It looks nice. But thats about all it does. I noticed a little more power but it does not make any more sound and the power difference was barely noticable. I was wondering if you guys think i should go with a new setup such as a flowmaster. By the way my truck is an 02 FX4 Ranger. I hear you guys boasting about Flowmasters all the time and its really making me think. If i do change over to a new setup should i go with duals?

i cant say no to dual flows :) most everyone here with exhaust has flows, and not one complaint... you wont notice too much diff. in power, but the sound is worlds better.

hope that helps

How loud are the Flowmasters inside the cab. I want a good tone but i still want to hear myself think....but then again maybe it will drown out the GF's nagging.

Thumbs up I have duals

I had Duals put on last October they was just a regular turbo muffler had Midas put Dual customs on. I noticed a good big of difference with them over stock. Then just about a month ago I had the Ravin Z-33 muffler installed I noticed another gain in power plus a nice deep tone. I am very pleased with the work and and sound. I would recomend to any one that wants a power increase and soud to go with it to get duals(Ravin or Flowmaster)

I am looking into a custom exhaust soon my self. My tips are gonna be duals. but in stead of coming straight out the back. they will come off at an angle at the rear corners of the bed.

If you dont dump the exhaust... the in-cab sound is no where near as loud and easy to hear radio, etc... on a lower level. Mine is dumped and sounds good when im moving (still have a whiny sound problem... but nevermind that) but sometimes i have to have the radio up and the gf complains that i cant hear when we are at a light or something so im guessing that its pretty loud in the cab that way.

Are the 40 series what they used to call the old "2 chambered" vs "3 chambered" design? If that's the ones...Yeah I can vouch for them. That's what I got on the Torino. Hooker headers and those Flowmasters and that's it! Way to do it.

what is dumped exhaust? what would sound good on a 2.9? i was thinking one glasspak to 2 tailpipes with bullhorn tips, but i also want to try a turbo dumped (whatever that is, i just want it loud)

dumped exhaust is where you have a small piece come off the muffler and turn down at the ground....mine is right at the back axle

ohh, so you dont have it in the pipe, right out of the muffler so the pipe wont muffle it, right?
