A CAT-ostrophic dillema

As most of you know, I have a fairly stock 92 ranger with a 4.0L. I have had after-cat exhaust installed, but now it is time for the cat. Eventually it will be all ripped out anyway, as I am going to put headers and true dual exhaust on it.

BUT....in the meanwhile I want to know what kind of performance cat I can put on my lil beast that is cheap but effective. Any post helps, but experiences and reccomendations are preferred.
Thanx:fordsrule::chevysucks:

Just hollow out the cat you have on there a new high flow cat could run you near $100.00

The money isnt the issue. In Washington state you HAVE to pass strict tests by the department of environmental quality (DEQ). You cannot hollow out the cat and pass. Thnx for the suggestion, though. I just want to know a good, but inexpensive performance cat.

some cheap mods, K&N, chip, electric fan and under-drive pullies.

To get real power out of your 4.0l, you need to go the tried and true method of porting your heads and changing the cam. Look inot extrude-honing your upper/lower intake as well.

CAT change

What is the deal with the legal issues about not replacing a CAT until it has reached 50,000 miles or failure? :puzzled:

Hey-hey! Thnx for the link, bro. Now I just gotta see if I can "legally" go with 1 cat instead of the factory 2. Why ford did that, I will never know.

Benny724: I have never heard that, but it might be worth me checking into. Seems kinda wierd that if they were going to let you do it, it really wouldn't make a damn bit of difference when, huh?
If I find anything out I will share.

Thanks all
