brakes grabbing when wet outside

Hey Guys,
The brakes on my '94 Ranger want to grab and are kind of touchy when it rains. Is this common with the brake systems on these little trucks? And should I be concerned about this matter, or just deal with it? Thanks to all the guys that have given me some great feedback. I do appreciate your time. Darby:wavey:

happens on fullsizes as well, i kinda like it! i believe it has to do with the moisture building up a quite small layer of rust on the pad since it presumably (if i understand correctly) hasnt been used lets say... overnight?

The rear ABS in my 92 does the same thing when its cold. They lock up real easy at slow speeds, but it gets better once I warm the brakes up a little. I have no idear what causes it though.er:

well mine seems to do it as it gets colder and when its wet outside. When im braking, it is a brutal stop (on me and the truck) and makes a loud metalic on metalic sound. I only have 15,000 miles on my truck, anyone have any idea what might be rubbing?

a lot of the time it is just a common problem on all cars. water and dirt will get up in between the pads and rotors causing them to grab even faster.it will also do it if you let the truck sit for longer then two days because of the rust build up on the rotors. it is something that you will have no control over .

My 94 Explorer does it too. I once scared the heck out of an old lady crossing the street. I applied the brakes to slow down and let her cross. Instead, the wheels lock up and she jumps back onto the sidewalk.

happens on all cars i thought. brakes just get a little grabby when they've sit up a while and have gotten wet. it's not a ford thing, b/c it happens to chevys and oldsmobiles too. really, it's not a problem for me after using the brakes a couple times. but when ur squeaking in the parking lot at school, man is it embarrassing. lol.

I know this is a fairly old thread, but it happened to me 3 months after I bought the truck new. It did not rain for like a month, and then it did.....road was slick, pulled out slow on a hill and down I went into a F-150's back end!!! Really sucked cause it drove my bumper in, the lady got out yelled at me and I said call the cops...I knew it was my fault, but she got in and drove away...pheww, bad luck, good luck!
