| When did your Dad buy the truck? Did he buy it new or had it been customized be a previous owner? Is it carbureated or fuel injected? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't all of the 4-cyl carbureated Rangers 2.0L? Then when they switched to FI, the engine displacement gained .3 (heads?). Perhaps 2.3 FI was an option in '83, I'm not sure. In 1999 I yanked out my old 2.0L and installed a 2.3L along with all of the wiring, dash, and fuel tank from an '87 donor I got from my wrecking crew neighbor. When I spun a rod bearing a year later, I decided to go all out and put in a 5.0L engine which was given to me by a coworker. Try going to a parts store asking for a part for your 5L Ranger! ![]()
