When I shift my 4x4 shifter into neutral it makes a terrible grinding noise. The tach and the speeddo both peg out when I finally get it engaged into 4LOW and there is a hard knock/thump in the rear end when it engages. The same situation occurs when I go out of 4 LOW into neutral and then again from Neutral to 4 HIGH. 4 High to 2WD is OK. It is only when I shift into neutal and into 4 LOW and from 4LOW to neutral to 4high. Any IDEAS OR SUGGESTIONS? The truck is still under warranty and plan on taking it in if I cant solve the probel myself. It does not do it everytime but close to 80 to 85% of the time. If this makes absolutly no sence let me know so I can clarify. :puzzled::puzzled::puzzled:

is it themanuel 4by4 or electric? my dads is that shift on the fly and his does it to and the ford dealer replaced almost everything under the truck and it still does it

take it in. but you know when you take it in and ask dude to ride with you so that you can show him it wont do it and then when he looks at you crazy and gets out it will. happens all the time to me.

my dads is all auto and anything that had to do with the 4by4 was changed including both axles,transfercare,drive shafts,hubs and all the wiring to the swithc and the switch its self and it still does it
