i purchased a 2008 ford escape, a little over a month ago. well, last friday i was driving out of town and all of a sudden the moonroof shattered. there was no one on the road in front of me and no cars passed. i was singing along to the music in my car when i heard what sounded like a light bulb pop. little shards of glass started falling on me and when i looked up i saw that the entire piece of glass was completely shattered.

i went back to the dealer to get it fixed because i'm still under warranty, and the guy said that he's not sure if the warranty covers shattered glass. i asked what exactly the warranty covered and he said manufacturers parts etc. i haven't changed the glass or anything so it should be under warranty, right??? i need your thoughts/suggestions. the guy said he was going to get in touch with some people and it could take hours, so if anyone has any facts/ideas that could speed this process up it would be greatly appreciated.

Don't know if you already found out what they will/won't do but this could be something that they installed incorrectly etc. As long as no one was driving around you and stuff and you know that it wasn't from a rock or whatever then I don't see why they shouldn't cover it.

yeah sometimes it may happen due to heat(i have seen such incidents).I also agree with that guy, these things do not posses any warranty.
