Why did ford dump the fullsize bronco?

I'd like to know if anybody knows the real reason why FORD dumped the fullsize Bronco in 96, :puzzled: and why they didn't build a bigger Explorer back in 90 instead of changing the name from Bronco 2 (the new edition is comparable to the dakota, the first Explorer could've finished off the baby blazer & jimmies)? I've got nothing against new models, but FORD started a nice trend with the Mustang & Bronco in the 60s, only to replace the Bronco with the Expedition (FORDs answer to the sububan?) Here in Canada we are loosing the Cougar and other models to new lines that never pan out, but tried & true blue are gone forever. FORD is loosing market share on it's F150 to chev because general motors finally smartened up & made a roomier truck. I'm 6' 4" tall and never could feel comfortable in a gm truck till now(I drive a Bronco 2 with a transplanted 73 302 & a 1989 F150 supercab 4X4) I'll always be a TRUE BLUE FORD FAN! FORDS FOREVER!!! BRONCONUT

if I recall ford discontinued the late great Bronco because they felt it wasnt the way of their future, ie: more family friendly vehicle's, and it wasnt selling they way it once had. oh yeah I fully agree with ford forever, I have only owned 3 vehicles in my 23 years, the first was a 62 Fairlane, then and 84 VW Rabbit(great little car) and now an 89 Ranger...my baby.

Just wanted to clarify that the Expedition is somewhere between the Bronco and the Suburban. The Excursion is Ford's answer to the Suburban!:chevysucks:

A full-size 2-door sport utility vehicle wouldn't have much of a market today with all of the other SUV's out there. The Tahoe seems to be the only thing that is comparable, and it is a different league than the Bronco was. The Bronco was always a truck to me, I had a '91 several years back now.

I would love to see a Bronco based off of the SuperDuty platform, though. V10 or Powerstroke, of course. :)
