Dubbed -

Did you make your scoop functional? I have the same one in the garage waiting to get moulded in, but can't decide on what is going to be the best way to make it work without removing the support braces...

Ideas?

I am thinking about making mine functional. I have found a black mesh to replace the solid black grill. The mesh would allow the air flow through to the scoop without showing any holes.
I had found a web site that offered a kit to convert the factory scoop on a mustang to a working scoop with the hardware under the hood to attatch to the factory air box. I would think that I could get that settup and make it fit my truck and then have a working hood scoop.

Thanks - I am not trying to make mine into a ram-air. I just need the extra air to help dissipate some of the heat of the Eaton.

I am not sure which way I am going to cut the hood under the scoop. I am either going to cut a couple of 3" holes on each side of the hood baces, or cut one large hole on each side. I am going to round the corners to avoid cracks running in the hood.

I am hoping there will be enough air flowing to help pull some of the heat in the engine compartment down each side, over the headers, and out the bottom of the truck. Guess there is only one way to find out... :smokin:

Sounds like i plan... may need a few tissues and you begin to deface the car and do the initial cut.

Got another hood just in case...

I'm going to cut the hood I bought, and save my stock one for those 'just in case moments'...

what about when it rains? would a significant ammount of water get in on a long trip? or will you make a way to close it up.

I've already drilled the scoop front facia out for the air to come through. I thought about that then, so I took a piece of plexiglass and cut it to cover the scoop facia. I put 3 screws in it - one on each side and one in the middle. On the backside of the screws is a piece of rubber grommet that will snug in the aligning holes. Then the airpressure will hold it in. That should keep enough water out that I won't have to worry.
