Hey all,
Well, the deal is that my dad's 87 Bronco, w/ the 5.0L engine, has developed a hole in the fuel tank and is leaking fuel. This is the second time since the truck was bought new that this has happened. The first time, my dad brought it to a shop to get fixed. This time he's asking me to take a look. From what I understand, what happens is that Ford has a shield around these tanks, and the moisture and Northeast salt, from winter roads, gets in there between the shield and the tank and puts holes in it. Anyone know how hard it is to drop this tank and put in a replacement? Also, what sites are out there to check for OEM parts? I have checked oem-car-parts.com, and parts.com. I've come up with $160.93 for a new tank.

there are a couple of those. i also know that jcwhitney has some fuel tanks. at least they used to.

i had a mechanic drop a tank for me once in a chevy. i think its more time consuming than anything.

That bronco graveyard site actually has a 33 gallon PLASTIC tank. And on top of that, the price was only like $120. Seems like that may be the way to go.
