BII seatbelt won't retract.

The driver's seatbelt on my '87 BII has gotten stuck. I got in and went to put it on and, in the process, pulled it all the way out. It locked and now I can't get it to pull itself back in. I'm going to pull the panel that covers the seatbelt soon, jsut wondering if anyone can help me know what I'm going to find in there, and any tips for releasing the retracting mechanism.
