whats the cheapest and easiest way to add more horse power and accelerating power to an explorer?

5.0l v8. Seriously. I'd look for a v8 one in the boneyards and swap everything over.

You can always do the infamous "first" mods people do to their vehicles. exhaust, intake system of some sort......maybe some underdrive pulleys..........a chip i bet is possible......

if you wanna get crazy, pay someone to take the intake manifolds and heads off, and send them to Extrude Hone. That will yield a niiicccee power gain. www.extrudehone.com

every body wants a cheap way to gain power, its possible if you teach yourself to port and polish, or if you have a friend that is a distributer of performance parts, but if you cant wrench, and you dont have that friend you are going to have to spend the money to gain any serious power.
