Thunder on 66 pre-cruise Is anyone interested in a Michigan pre-cruise for Thunder on 66? There has been discussion in the Yahoo group about a Great Lakes region caravan starting near Grand Rapids, MI on August 13th. We could meet at Rosie's Diner near Rockford for a late breakfast/brunch and join up for the 4-hour drive from there to Elgin. I'm also looking into arranging a group tour of the Wixom plant on August 12. [Chris, what do you think?]

Michigan pre-cruise update As the date draws near, we need to finalize plans for the August 12th and 13th T-bird events previously announced. I will contact Dave Davis at Wixom next Monday when the plant reopens, and I need to give him the headcount for the tour. Chris is going to contact Rosie's as soon as I provide the numbers for that gathering. Here is the information I have collected from various sources so far [sorry about the formatting]: Wixom Rosies Name Source #people #TBs yes yes Bernie/MK Bernie 1,2 1 no yes Chris Chris 1 1 yes yes Tony/Patricia Chris 2 1 no yes Terry Chris 1 1 no yes Jim Chris 1 1 no yes(?) Gene/Karen Thunderon66 2 1 yes yes Gord Thunderon66 1 1 yes yes Joy Newtbirdforum 2 1 So far we have 6 people for the Wixom tour and 8 cars with 12 people for Rosie's. If you want to add or remove your name, please send me the information by this weekend. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone in a few weeks!

Good news for Wixom tour! Dave Davis called back today, as promised, and gave us a green light for the group tour on August 12th. I was offered a choice of 9:30-11:30 for the morning shift and 12:30-2:30 for the afternoon. I opted for the afternoon, given that some people will be driving cross state and would have a pretty early wake up call to arrive in time for the morning slot. The plant will be in full production and Dave promised us a pretty interesting look at the making of the T-bird. I'll post driving directions and lodging recommendations for those who need them in a follow-up. BTW, I'd like to suggest that replies go to the new T-bird forums that Justin graciously set up for us to avoid multiple postings and divergent threads. I'll continue to monitor the discussion here for those who'd rather stay put, however.
