1995 Ford Probe Smoking

My daughters 1995 Ford Probe 4 cyl. is Smoking from the exhaust, may I ask what it could be?

We put a differant engine in it last Fall and it did not smoke. In fact it ran very good. It has 95,000 miles on it.

I am hopeing that it is something sample.

Re: 1995 Ford Probe Smoking

It could be something as simple as the catalytic convertor being clogged up. I had a 94' Grand Am that started overheating and smoking, and after a bit of investigation i noticed that the CC was RED hot when the car was on. Cut it out, and ran it straight pipe for the rest of the time I had it. No emmission laws in Michigan

Re: 1995 Ford Probe Smoking

i think that there is some problem with piston rings. If your car is consuming a lot of oil then i am much sure that the piston rings are shot.It seems that piston rings are letting alot of oil blow by and get burned inside the combustion chamber.
