Russ - there have been many complaints about that oversight. Actually, it doesn't bother me. I must admit, I like the styling so much that my eyesight rarely tavels that far down. In addition, when you're inside driving, it's not noticeable at all!

I hope your uncle gets his fixed soon. It's too fun a car to leave sitting in a garage. It NEEDS to be driven.

Thoughts on the New Thunderbird

It's under warranttee for 3 years. He should be getting it fixed now so he can enjoy the summer with it. It's been rare to hear of one with a transmission problem. Ford has been real good with dealers about getting parts for these cars to the dealers when needed.

Took a cruise on Sunday to a small resort community in western Michigan. Parked in front of three really sharp Corvette convertibles. When we returned from shopping we hooked up with the owners. They LOVED the Bird, and we visited for some time. Were envited to their club cruise next weekend, but will be out of state, so had to pass. Great to be appreciated by almost everyone we meet.

Anyone who says the new Bird has no guts hasn't ridden in one!!

While I was in Texas, Lon took me for a ride in his, and the only negative I have for the car is too much body roll in cornering at high speed.

We found that the car is shorter in the wheelbase than the 89-97 by a good 8 inches, and the width of the 02 is narrower by two inches-that will affect them in cornering. Other than that, the car is as perfect a Bird as you can get!!:fordsrule:

Whoop02 - That's my car!!! Actually, that is one of the pics that really got me excited about the color. Originally was going to order yellow, but felt blue would be a color that would wear well over time. Sure glad we got the blue, it's a color I can live with a real long time, and not get tired of. The interior accent is more of a turquoise that matches the badging and gauges, and is a slight contrast to the exterior paint. Added bonus is it doesn't show dirt very quickly.

Birdman93 - I agree, criticising the performance has always been somewhat uncalled for in my opinion. We love the ride, and really think the handling and accleration are more than we really expected. Would like a little better low end torque, but my tire burning days have been over for some time now, so that is a minor issue. It really scoots!

:nono: TBird02, No that is MY car.

You ask what I think about the new T-Bird. Here is what I think. To begin with this car is not for everyone. This car is not only a decent handling car, a great looking car, not the fastest car on the road, but then it 's not supposed to be, and a great car to take on a long trip. I drove mine stright thru for 16 hours from York, Pa. to Sebring Fla.
This car IS A STATE OF MIND. I have had some nice cars in my life but this one is the best. I get more looks when driving this car then I do driving my F-150 my 73 MGB or my 69 Vette. Not like a lot of people on this site I do remember when the first t-Birds came out, I think I was about 8 years old at the time. That was the car I wanted to drive when I got old enough. Well that didn't happen. Until now, I have my dream machine and it is great.:smokin:
