Ford is throwing a bash to celebrate the 75th birthday of the iconic Deuce. "Deuce" is a reference to the two in 1932, which was the year this legendary car was born, and it's been the most popular starting point for hot rods ever since. The party will also honor the famous Ford Flathead engine. When it debuted, the Deuce cost just $500 and was considered pretty revolutionary. Since then, as Ford puts it, they have been "modified, raced, cruised, deified, celebrated in film, revised, and recreated over the past 75 years." Most of the ones we see today are fiberglass or recreations, so real steel '32s are some of the most desirable vehicles by restorers and hot-rodders alike. Today, restored and high-end versions of the '32 Ford can cost buyers well into six figures, and the flathead engine is just as legendary as the car it came in. Built from 1932 through 1953, the Flatheaed was so strong and easily modified that it practically created hot rodding and today's multi-billion-dollar aftermarket industry.

Now, 75 years later, both car and engine are hall of famers, worthy of a birthday bash. The Ford Motor Company, the MHRA (Michigan Hot Rod Association) and the Early Ford V-8 Club of America are organizing the shindig, which will take place in Dearborn, Michigan, August 9-12, 2007. The party will include a swap meet, a concours d'elegance, cruises, specialty vehicle displays, a drive-in date night and a gathering at Henry Ford's Greenfield Village. Anyone with a 1932 Ford is welcome to register, as are those driving vehicles powered by any Ford Flathead V8. Edsel Ford will be the Honorary Chairman, Ford President and CEO Alan Mulally the Grand Marshal, and Keith Crain, Chairman of Crain Communications Inc., the Executive Advisor.
