Ford Motor sells Aston Martin for $925 million

I don't know how I missed this, but I just seen today that Ford recently sold Aston Martin (Ford Motor sells Aston Martin for £450 million-Business-Industry Sectors-Engineering-TimesOnline). I guess this is part of its restructuring in order to turn around its recent losses?

I guess the question is why did they sell it? Was it a profitably company? Losing money for Ford? Will Ford continue to sell off more of its companies?

Re: Ford Motor sells Aston Martin for $925 million

I think this happened several weeks ago. I'm not sure of the profitability of the Aston Martin for FORD. I just can't imagine it being a big winner for them. How many Aston Martin's are made per year? I think they have bigger fish to fry with models like the Edge, Mustang, F series. Those models must be successful or things could get really bad for Ford. Maybe they over extended themselves

Re: Ford Motor sells Aston Martin for $925 million

Yeah, maybe selling off some of their other companies can help them turn their numbers around. Maybe Land Rover will go next. I mean look at it, Land Rover is an English SUV that had a German engine (was BMW, now a Jaguar engine) that is being sold by an American company. Probably driving away potential Land Rover consumers with that combination...

Maybe they will move Jaguar as well?

I think this may just be the beginning of some "house cleaning" by Ford...

I think they made alot of BAD MOVES.... Instead of Bold Moves with all of their acquisitions over the years. They need to focus on the FORD line first. Once they nail that maybe look into other things.
