ok i hate stock...

alright my mustang is still stock, but im tired of it and want to upgrade or modify. Ive got ideas like, rims, drop 1-2 inches, ram air, nice hood, borla exhaust, better wing, and some other stuff... well what do you guys think i should do first? :puzzled:

Actually a buddy of mine put borla exhaust on a 2000 mustand and it sounded hihg pitch, almost the exact same sound that comes out of my 4 banger flowmaster.... i swear to god, the guys that were there couldnt believe it either.

He paid way too much for it too, go another way on the exhaust in my opinion!

When you start, you will never finish

I agree on the Borla. It's like Tommy Hilf. and Ralph L., you're paying for the name. As far as what to do first, it will depend on if you want looks or performance. You didn't say what year you have, but if it's a '86-'93 year 5.0, there are a few free things for horsepower you can do. Ditch the air intake silencer on the inside of the air box. It will be on the inside fender. Also, you can advance the timing to a safe 12 to 14 degrees (listen for spark knock). The first thing money wise, to me, I would go for a set of gears. 3.73's if you have a stick, or 4.10's if an auto. It'll cost you around $200 if you do it (I wouldn't suggest it) or about $350 to pay someone. It's the most bang for the buck in my opinion. Good luck spanking those chevys and rice racers!!! P.S. You're getting yourself into an addictive habit formin' game, so be very careful.:flamingdevil:

By the way

Remember, do you want to look good and lose, or do you want to look stock and win? looking good is cool at the beach and Mickey D's parking lot, but all the Bling-Bling in the world doesn't do diddly when a plain jane looking beater blows your doors off. Ohh, what to do what to do.

Well, its all your decision. If you want looks, I would say some vinyl graphics/wing/rims/cowl hood. Painted graphics are real nice, but you can replace vinyl a lot cheaper than you could paint if it ever gets messed up at all.

Well, for exhaust, my friend has a 3.8l v6 'stang, all stock basically. He switched his single stock exhaust to a dual exhaust with glasspacks(i think that is how you spell it), and it sounds like it has a giant throaty v8 under the hood now.

It sounds really really good. Ask your local muffler shop about glasspacks and they will tell you about them.

Mods for GO or for SHOW?

Mods for go (and you should plan this out with all future mods to prevent rework)

for most noticeable results, go with u/d pullies and diff gearing.

for show, get new rims and a modest drop.

for show AND go, put on true dual exhaust (if you have a V6)

Try either a Bassani or maybe an FRP500 exhaust with an X or H pipe. What kind of Mustang do you actually have?

Cheers, :fcrules:
