pressure switch for transmisson on tarus

what does it do and what is it for. my mom just took her 94 tarus to good year.well they told her she need a new trasmisson gassit,
and a pressure switch. - this was all being she was leaking some transmisson fluid. well this is what they did they drand the transmisson fluid and then add new fluid. also a new gassit.
then also added a new pressure switch. SO - HERE IS MY QUESTION. is there a pressure switch and what is it and what does it. thanks. im just making sure my mom and dad didn't get rip off for something they didn't need. making sure good year wasn't

with them.
