AOD cooler lines & brackets

Hello newbie here and am building a 347 stroker with AOD trans for my 76 datsun, one problem i am having as determining which of the 2 fittings are fluid out to cooler and which is return, need to plumb in everything before i drop motor and engine into place. I want to go to the radiator first then to the cooler last and then back to tranny. Also i got this tranny from a guy and rebuilt it and shift kitted it, but i have the cable for the AV system but no mounting brackets, are they all the same for all aod's?? also did for make any brackets to mount the cable at the barb end?? Used to be fuel a injected motor but is now carbureted.

Re: AOD cooler lines & brackets

With being in texas I would just run the lines straight to the cooler, The aod is pretty
heat sensitive and the more you heat that fluid the more the life get's wrung out of it which eventually hurts the tranny! I forget what the formula is but for every 10* over
the say 190* the life of the fluid is cut in half! If you are going to push this transmission I would invest in a temp gauge for it, You wouldn't believe how much the temps climb at a stoplight. I use a mity vac and a hose as long as the dipstick to pull out a half to full quart of fluid every motor oil change! It may seem like extra work but considering the cost of a rebuild it is worth the extra time to ensure that fresh fluid and additives are circulating in it.

Re: AOD cooler lines & brackets

Well i ran it through a 12 x 12 cooler with temp guage and temp switch to control a 12" fan just for the trans cooler.
