Engine Weight

Hey guys, it's been a while.

I'm doing some independent research regarding high performance alternative energy powered sports cars. Basically, what I'm trying to do is calculate if it's possible to wedge a fuel cell system into an 07 Mustang GT. However, I can't seem to find the weight of the V-6 engine anywhere. I'm currently using a guess of around 500 lbs, but that's just a shot in the dark. I'm operating off of a curb weight of 3500 lbs. If anybody can help with finding the weight of the engine, I'd be most appreciative.

Re: Engine Weight

Turns out I was pretty close. The heaviest V-6, which would be the ideal for the number crunching, was around 488. Now I can figure out how much the fuel-cell version would weigh, and if it would be possible to put up GT 500 numbers in such a configuration.

Re: Engine Weight

Why the shocked face? Would it really be that surprising?

Re: Engine Weight

Go for it, and best of luck, really! Keep us informed of the progress. Also would like to know how the powertrain weight differential works out.
