| Re: 1957 F-100 V8 and 4 speed together My 1953-56 Ford truck shop manuals have charts that say 4 speed optional in F-100, 1961 and 1964 Ford truck shop manuals have charts that seem to say 4 speed with 6 cyl only, 1957 Ford truck shop manual has no such chart. |

| Re: 1957 F-100 V8 and 4 speed together Thank you FordFan and 46yblock, I got an answer on another forum that someone had a 57 F-100 with a V8 and 4 speed ( factory stock ) 20 years ago. Youre right it would be a T-98 with a 6.40 first gear and 150 lbs. |

| Re: 1957 F-100 V8 and 4 speed together newstang, I wouldnt even call it a project at this point, I like the styling of the 1957 F-100, and was just wondering. Nothing beats a V8 and four on the floor in an old hot rod. |

| Re: 1957 F-100 V8 and 4 speed together Quote:
My 1954 Ford 1 ton had a T-98. When still in Kansas I was always looking for parts to go with the then new 1946 build. Found a 2 1/2 ton 46 in a Farm yard and the guy said I could have it for free. It had been in the same spot for over 20 years, after having thrown a flathead rod through the block. It was February and the ground was half frozen. A buddy and I drove the 54 to the farm to pull out the big truck and tow it home. I really didnt expect a successful outcome because of the ground conditions. Also the 54 had a little underpowered I-6, with single rear wheels, although the tires were 36 inch with aggressive treads. Anyway, we did the pull and with that granny gear matched with a 5.76 rear end plus a lot of effort, the big 46 broke free and home we went.
