It is a piston I removed from a motor Monday. The only thing done to it by me was to clean it with carb cleaner. If you look closely at the ends of the broken lands, they have been worn to a dull point, apparently from wear by broken ring pieces. Ring pieces were also in the pan. I figure the driver of this motor just kept driving for a long time, even knowing one cylinder was shot. It must have fogged up a lot of neighborhoods with blowby before finally quitting.
Everything in the motor, including the block, was junk, except the rods were valuable and not used up. The heads were ok, but they were two very different heads, neither of which belonged on the block. I'm keeping the block, crank, timing set, & some other items for a while to practice assembly, getting ready for my new motor to go together next year.
